About the Author

I was born and raised in Louisville, a city with such a good sense of humor and selfconfidence that it proudly calls itself the largest in Kentucky. I lived there until I was eighteen years old when I moved to Chicago, a true big city, to attend university. I spent my last semester studying abroad, for no legitimate academic reason whatsoever. It was simply an excuse to scratch, however briefly, a fiery itch to travel.

I am still scratching that itch today, but like any itch mine sometimes becomes less indulgent and more aggravating when I continue scratching too long. At such times, I am always happy to return home to Kentucky, to visit friends and family, and to refresh my raw skin and nerves in the process.
